A PEN number is an unique id that is assigned to each student in the school education system. which is used in almost everything like tracking student’s academic journey, their details and what not. Even the first thing we require before doing any operation on student data is the PEN number.
But, If the student is in our own school, we’ve their PEN number, but if you want to import student from other school, or want to access a student data outside of your school, you’ll need PEN number.
So over here We’ll be letting you know the steps that you need to follow to get the student PEN number.
What is PEN Number?
PEN (Permanent Education Number) is an id assigned to every student so that their academic performance & journey can be tracked over the time. It’s 11 digit number, and this number remains the same throughout the academic journey of student.
Even if the student changes schools, districts or states, the PEN number remains the same, it doesn’t change at all.
Why PEN Number exists?
PEN number helps schools do so many things including smooth school transfer. While transferring a student from one school to another, the new school can get the access to the whole academic record of student in the system.
It also helps education departments manage and analyze student’s data more efficiently. They’re able to track how many students are currently enrolled in that particular school, how many of them are boys, how many of them are girls etc.
Steps to find PEN Number of Student outside your School in UDISE+
Step #1: Login into UDISE+
First, you need to login in the UDISE portal through student module, follow the instructions given below
go to udiseplus.gov.in > login for all modules > Select State > Student Module
Step #2: Enter School Credentials
Over here you’ll need to enter school’s user ID and password. Fill the captcha correct and then click on ‘login’. Once you’ll click on Login you’ll have to select the current school session from there
User ID > Password > Captcha > Click on Login > Current Session
Step #3: Open Student Movement & Progression
Once you’ll open student movement dropdown in the left side, you’ll see ‘Import Module’. just click on that.
Student Movement & Progression > Import Module
Now you need to check whether the student, of who you want to find the PEN Number studied in the current state or outside the state. If within state click on ‘Import within State’ otherwise ‘Import Outside State’
Step #4: Click on Search by Pen (Get PEN & DOB)
Once you’ll click on this option, you’ll be asked 2 things
- Student’s Aadhar Number
- Student’s Year of Birth
Enter these 2 things, You’ll get your student’s PEN number instantly.
